Protect your pet in your will
You are reading the plain-language version.
Who looks after your pet when you have died?
Many people worry about this. Animals cannot help themselves.
How your pet can be well cared for
You write in your will: my money should be used to care for my pet. And you choose an executor.
The executor
- finds a good home for your pet, or
- checks on the person you chose yourself. The executor pays this person with money from your estate.
Why me?
I have helped the Oberberg animal welfare society for many years. Animals are very important to me.
“What will happen to my pet,
which has accompanied me through my life for years,
after my death?”

Is this a question you often ask yourself?
And does this question worry you because you know that – sadly – animals are completely at the mercy of people?
And does it worry you because you know that – sadly – many people have no compassion or sympathy for animals at all?
So your question is:
How can I make absolutely sure that my pet is well cared for even after my death?
The safest way is to appoint an executor who ensures that your assets are used to care for your animal.
The executor either finds a responsible and conscientious foster home after your death, or supervises the carer you chose during your lifetime and pays them from your estate.
I have volunteered with the Oberberg animal welfare society for years, as an auditor since 2012.
I combine my personal commitment to animals with my profession as an executor.
Wills that ensure the care of animals are particularly close to my heart.
